Film offers compassionate portrayal of Columbine

I knew kids like Andre and Cal in high school. These kids would sit by themselves in the cafeteria playing "Spit" and idly griping about the various football players who had done them injustice. A little idiosyncratic perhaps, but basically nice suburban kids with nice suburban families and Simpsons posters on the bedroom walls of their nice suburban split-level houses.

Belle and Sebastian provides brilliance in pretty little packages

Anyone who knows me, or, rather, knows me well, will probably be able to tell you about my long and deep-running affinity for the Smiths. I could probably wax poetic for pages about their lyrical and musical brilliance, the vast influence they've had on other bands and so on.

Writing this article Saturday afternoon, I will admit that an hour ago, I had no idea what I would write about this week. As luck would have it, something must have been smiling on me, as I found myself at the radio station's record sale in search of an idea.

Some bands inspire their fans to commit insane acts of devotion, such as tattooing the lead singer's name on one's behind or buying every single record the band has put out, including the bad ones, or taking up bird watching. The band British Sea Power is one of these.
