Anyone passing by Smith College on Saturday night might have been surprised to find a completely dark campus. The lack of lights was part of a global movement called Earth Hour going on across the country from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 29. Millions of people across the world turned out their lights to call for action on climate change.

It was that time of year for the geeks on campus as they converged once again. From Friday, March 28 to Sunday, March 30, the Smith Science Fiction/Fantasy Society held ConBust, its annual sci-fi/fantasy/anime/gaming convention. This year was its sixth year running.

UMass Student Arrested for Lewdness on Smith Campus

Public Safety revealed Tuesday, March 25, that a Smith student and a city resident were subject to sexual misconduct from the same man. Northampton Police recently arrested and charged UMass football player and Belchertown resident Spencer Ridenhour, 22, with open and gross lewdness.

Price of Smith Education Increases by Another Five Percent

The price tag on a Smith College education will increase next year. The cost to attend Smith College will rise 5.5 percent to $48,108 for the 2008-09 academic year, administrators recently announced. The tuition figures reflect only a fraction of the cost to attend Smith.

Just when it seemed like health insurance could not get more confusing, it has. Luckily, the State Department is working to make health insurance more accessible. Since 2006, the Massachusetts Health Care Reform Bill has required that all citizens have health insurance, otherwise known as "individual mandates."
