Twisting Up the Arts and Craft World
Last weekend, Northampton Center for the Arts hosted Twist, an arts and crafts fair in its very first year. Twist's flyers and Web site boast that it is a "fresh kind of fair" with artists not only from the local area but from around the nation. Raney-Mills Turner of raney-day-rings - rings made from recycled jewelry pieces - and Anthony Ferrario of Stormcloud, Bring Rainbows - a line of sewn-together pieces of recycled apparel - traveled from Boston and were extremely excited that they were camping in Goshen to attend the fair.

The words 'bread festival' might not initially excite the non-baking crowd, but the Hungry Ghost Bread's fifth annual "Wonder Not Bread Festival" involves more than just eating - although food will be the uniting element. This free festival features local bands, Pioneer Valley farmers and, of course, bread.

Art Exhibit at Alumnae House Evokes Summer Nostalgia

Although I'm a junior at Smith, I had yet to visit the Alumnae House when I stopped by to check out the current exhibition of paintings by Phyllis Rosser, a successful artist and Smith alumna. The exhibition space alone is worth a visit; the paintings are displayed in a long, sunlit room with tall windows and boxes of blooming flowers.
