Discovering Culture and Tradition Through Work of Hispanic Artists

Discovering Culture and Tradition Through Work of Hispanic Artists
As a passionate member of Nosotras, Smith's Latina organization dedicated to addressing issues in Hispanic communities, Amber Harden '11 has taken on the art world to relay an important theme. Harden said, "I'm in no way, shape or form artistic," but that did not stop her from pursuing an idea of an exhibit highlighting Hispanic artists for Nosotras.

Wanna Be Sedated?
Everyone at Smith has hell days, the ones that hit like natural disasters with three or more classes, some monstrosity of a project due at the ungodly hour of 9 a.m., an obligatory org duty that takes way longer than expected, a span of half an hour to finish your "less important" assignments right before they're due, and, oh, just to keep things interesting, you're running on five hours of sleep at best.

Woodstock, Take Two: A Day in the Life of an Extra
If I were to be anywhere at 7:30 a.m. on a Monday morning, I'd most likely be in bed, smacking my alarm clock into silence before falling onto the floor at 8:45 for my 9 a.m. class. But as fate - and a hastily assembled casting call at UMass - would have it, last Monday found two Smith friends and me on the movie set of Ang Lee's upcoming film "Taking Woodstock" in New Lebanon, New York, taking in the setup of vintage cars and yoga circles while waiting for the "background, action!" cue.

Immaculate Compilation: Is the iTunes "Genius" Feature the God Your Indie Lover Prays To?

Is it a coincidence that iTunes' new "Genius" feature icon bears more than a passing resemblance to the Hadron Collider? We caution Sub-Atomic Physicists and Modest Mouse fans alike against tempting fate by bashing particles against one another and trusting voodoo playlists respectively.

Smith on Exhibit: Student Picks at SCMA

This year the Smith College Museum of Art has installed an exciting new program which gives any Smith student an opportunity to showcase her love of art. This program is the latest addition to the museum's already impressive effort to connect students on a personal level with the incredible collection of art that is available on campus.
