Vampire Weekend fills JMG
Although some doubted Rec Council's ability to do it, the organization managed to pack John M. Greene Hall last Wednesday night at the Vampire Weekend concert. The eclectic music tastes that pervade the Smith campus usually make it difficult for Rec Council to cater to any significant percentage of the student body, but this time they succeeded.

Kings of Leon's disdain for fame

When a band headlines and almost sells out a massive arena like Madison Square Garden, appears on the cover of Rolling Stone and is heard on "Gossip Girl," it is a good indication that the group is pretty famous. All of these things have happened for the band Kings of Leon, whom I recently saw at Boston University's Agganis Arena.

My startup disk is almost full

The jig is up. My cap and gown are stuffed into my closet where I can't see them but I know they're there, Rally Day has come and gone, my OneCard has begun to peel and I am suddenly an editor at large. But it wasn't until this past Friday, when I saw the Decemberists for the third time since coming to Smith right after seeing Great Lake Swimmers for the second time at the Iron Horse, that I realized my days here are actually numbered.

A night at the movies

This past weekend, with the temperature higher than the stress level of most Smith students preparing for finals, I sought out air-conditioned refuge. Too lazy to walk to the nearest grocery store - though the idea of a frozen foods section was extremely tempting - I decided that my best chance to escape the tropical heat would be the cave-like coolness of a movie theater.

Wind and Jazz Ensemble Pleasantly Play
Despite sparse attendance, the Smith College Wind and Jazz Ensemble's spring concert was filled with energetic and enthusiastic performances. During the concert, the audience laughed and did some in-seat dancing before sauntering out of Sage with the vitality to conquer the remainder of their Monday nights.
